Playing strategy games without murdering your battery
Strategy games sit on your screen for a long time, which means they can drain a battery faster than a quick arcade run. A few small tweaks changed my sessions a lot.
First, drop the brightness a notch and turn off any high frame-rate mode you don't need. Most tower defence games look identical at 60fps and 30fps because the action isn't that twitchy.
Second, close background apps. It sounds obvious, but a chat app syncing constantly behind a strategy game eats power you'd rather spend on your commute.
Third, watch the heat. If your phone gets hot, it throttles, and a throttled phone stutters at the worst possible moment. Take it out of a thick case during long sessions.
None of this is dramatic, but together it turned my two-hour battery panic into a comfortable afternoon of play.
